Real update...

Hi, I thought I'd give a real update now.

Well, I've been here just over 1 week and it still hasn't sunk in that I'm here for good. I still feel like it's a vacation. I'm sure once I move into my place and start my life again it'll sink in.

So far my biggest fear was being the "house guest of horror." LOL You know the ones that never leave and completely take over your way of living? I didn't want to be that. I've tried hard not to be and hopefully I have succeeded. *crosses fingers* :-)

I've only had the "why did I do this" thought once and that was during my flat hunting experience. I'm still trying to get the final things set-up which aren't as frustrating as flat hunting.

So what's happening is I won't be signing the lease until I move in, which is on Friday, but I need something showing where I'm residing to open a bank account. And I can't get a mobile until I have a bank account. (We'll have to cross the credit check with the mobile when we come to that because I have no credit here.)

I would say the biggest thing to remember is to go with the flow because if I go with the flow it's not so much a culture shock for those weird things or the things that are done differently.

For example of things done differently, I took bus 255 from East Kilbride to Larkhall. So when it was time to return I waited for bus 255, but the driver told me he only goes as far as Hamilton. Instead of freaking out because I took this bus# before & wondering why doesn't it take me back - back home I can just back track with the same bus#, I just asked "Do you know which bus does go that far?" and he told me which one to wait for. I don't understand it but I'll go with it :-)

So yes, be flexible and go with the flow.

So yeah.... that's my thoughts of my first week. I'm sure these posts will be more exciting in a bit.

Cute photo! It will all make sense (maybe) when you've been there a while ;-/. One can hope....
Does the transportation go near your flat? How much will the mobile be and do they have rates like ours? I love you!!
