Guy Fawkes Night

I know, I know... I'm a bit late in "reporting" this, but I did make some passing comments in a previous entry but I thought it deserved a full post. After all this was my first Guy Fawkes Night / Bonfire Night/ Fireworks Night (whatever you call it).

For those not familiar here you go -

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot

5 November 1605 Guy Fawkes (a member of the gunpowder plot) was caught guarding a bunch of gunpowder below the House of Lords and was arrested. Bonfires started around town as the people celebrated that King James I was not assassinated.

And it's 2010 and still continues.

I went to Glasgow for the firework show. If you've seen Penelope you should know why I felt like I was in one of the scenes (minus the bubbles).

Most locations still have bonfires (where they burn Guy Fawkes) but Glasgow didn't, instead they had a mini amusement park.

And of course a large firework show!
