Chatelherault Country Park

Weeks before the snow hit I took a walk through the Chatelherault Country Park and this is a big beautiful park! (I should go back and take snow pictures!)

There are several trails in this park and I took the Cadzow Oaks Trail.

(I'm about to tell you what's on this trail and I feel like I should say "I passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops, and then I walked through the Lincoln Tunnel." - quote is obviously from Elf)

Anyways, when you're on the trail the sides are cut in blocks that at first I thought they were possible ruins, but later I found out you walk through the quarry where the stones were cut for the lodge. Then you cross the Dukes Bridge and enter the ruins of the Cadzow Castle. (see the brown mossy stuff behind my head? that's the roof of part of the castle)

The ruins of the castle are RIGHT on the edge of a cliff, so you can understand why it's blocked off to visitors.

And then I continued on the trail to see the Iron Age Earthworks and Cadzow Oaks.

Some of the trees are over 500 years old.

Doesn't this look like a wolf? Can't you see the ear? the eye? the snout? Well, I think it does and I thought it was cool.

I thought I'd try a new type of self-portrait on the trail.
