The reason Steve planned for us to go down to Homer is because of the bald eagles are supposedly abundant there. He was told correctly!
We flew to Seldovia out of Homer and we returned to Homer for some exploring and bald eagle picture time. Steve was told about the Homer dump and that there are young bald eagles there.
We didn't know if these were young bald eagles or hawks. But when I got home and enlarged the pictures I saw some of the "hawks" had white feathers on their heads. I looked them up and by the time the youngins mature they have the white head and tails. It takes 5 years for the youngins to fully mature. The Homer dump did not disappoint. It sure smelled though!
Here's are some fun signs I found:
Happy Face Restaurant is in Homer
This is outside of Girwood.
Need help to identify.... Steve saw this thing on the Outside Beach and it was moving! Does anyone know what this is? Steve wondered if it could be part of a starfish or something.... there was a smaller piece not too far from this one but it wasn't moving. Any ideas?
