Quick stop in Ninilchik on the way back to Anchorage. Steve knows I like to photograph fun things and appreciate buildings... possibly like him since he's been here before to photograph this church. Beautiful view at this location too.
We also stopped in Old Kenai for another Russian Orthodox church. There are many Russian Orthodox buildings here.
Isn't this old one beautiful? Question, I'm curious as to how the Russian Orthodox cross evolved into a the cross with two extra horizontal bars, which one is slanted. Does anyone know what their cross symbolizes and about when and why it evolved into it?
There was a lot of fluffy smooth snow on the mountains. And you can see where there were some avalanches up in there.
The sun started to set on our way back to Anchorage. Oh, we found a really yummy Mexican restaurant in Girwood. mmmm
So, I've seen all this amazing stuff and animals already but no Moose yet. Steve was shocked because Moose are everywhere. Steve decided to take me for ride to go Moose hunting. Just as we were about to leave Kincaid Park Steve spotted two Moose on top of a bunker.
Then Steve takes me to a park near the airport. We had a great view of the sun setting behind the mountains, which included the sleeping lady.
Steve took me to a nice bench that gave us a nice view of the mountains as well. He helped me adjust my manual settings to get my first moon shot. And during the middle of our trial and error shooting Steve abruptly stops and turns me around and a plane takes off over us. And I mean right over us.
