Coast trip / Whale watching

Stephanie-palooza is in full swing! My sister and I enjoyed a wonderful night at the coast. We discovered the Ashley Inn and it's a CUTE place! I'd totally stay there again.

I love whales. I've always talked about going whale watching "someday" and as my move date approaches quickly I figured someday is now. So Laura and I left Friday evening for an adventure at the coast and may I say that it was BEAUTIFUL!

We discovered Nye Beach in Newport, which is adorable, and we ate at Savory Cafe, which was yummy. It was Laura's first vegan meal and I had pizza. Yay meat and cheese! (Laura's version of events is here)

That night we were blessed with an amazing sunset...

and a cool moonset? The moon had set within 10 minutes, I swear! We weren't out there long taking pictures of the sliver of a crescent moon and then it was gone. Why wasn't there a moon that night?

We enjoyed a nice evening in our huge hotel room and watched "Valentine's Day" I laughed. I liked it. I won't buy it, but I enjoyed it.

And then Saturday morning came and we went whale watching.

I saw a whale!!! Yay! It was so exciting! I loved the whole boat ride and wished it was a bit longer. (Laura's version of events can be found here.)

And then after the boat ride we knew what to look for and saw one from the street! (several times may I add!) yay whales!

We then headed to Nye Beach to attempt to fly a kite. Attempt is the key word. I'm sure we could have flown the kite if they weren't broken.

I even channeled my inner McGyver and tried to fix the kite with gum.... it didn't work. But oh, it was so funny. You need to see the pictures of me "flying" my kite on my sister's blog. HILARIOUS!

And finally we went to Yaquina lighthouse to visit Cobble Beach. A very small but BEAUTIFUL beach! (Laura's version of events is here.)

Laura, you're the best sister EVER. Thanks for doing all these mini-trips with me.

Oh, Oregon you're so pretty and I'm going to miss you but I'm going to have some grand and beautiful adventures in Scotland. :-)

(I'm going to miss going on adventures with Laura though.)

Those are some great photos of you cute chicks!! The sunset/moonset is pretty amazing! In one of my classes in college, we had to keep track of where and when we saw the moon for a month ~ very interesting. That little sucker moves around a lot!

How fun! Very jealous of your whale watching experience! We went to Utah and went to the aquarium. It took me FOREVER to pet the sting rays. EEK! Their eyes were weird looking! And then PURPOSELY they'd come up to the side I was on and splash me! They felt like wet mushrooms haha. I finally touched a couple. But they still freak me out! I"d love to have watched whales though!! You have a great sister!
