Kirkmuirhill is a small village (in fact when I mention it I usually get a "where?" LOL) and only a couple of blocks from my flat is this view.
Now onto my flat:
This is my bathroom, it looks small but it's actually decent size.
This is my tiny fridge which is barely full. It has more food in there now, so don't think I'm going hungry!
Remember how I described the flat as a studio with an attached room? Here's why, this is my living room / kitchen. Please ignore the mess, I'm unpacking.
This is my bedroom, it looks small because it is for American standards. But it's actually decent size. It's a "double bedroom"... which means it will fit a double bed and that's about it. So i bought a single bed to give myself more room and besides it was the cheapest.
This is my tiny washer and this is my dryer... which I need to buy another one because one doesn't cut it!
This is my kettle which Mary suggested I get since it's EXTREMELY expensive to run the water heater to get hot water for washing dishes (because it has to be on so long before you can use the hot water). So I boil the water, add it to the container w/soap, then add some cold water so I'm not working with scalding hot water and it stays hot the whole time for me to do my dishes. I'll do anything to save me £££.
For the last year or so I was seeing commercials at home that talked about "unplugging appliances to cut back your carbon footprint." Do you remember those commercials? Well, since appliances use electricity while they're plugged in (even if they're off) to save £££ here you turn the outlet itself off when that appliance isn't being used. And then turn it on when you need to.
My flat is on the "pay as you use" method of electricity. So I have this lovely thing that I take to pay points (which are basically everywhere) and put however much I want on it. Then I can check my balance and conserve more if I need to before the month is up. I think this is great for budgets.
Look at my key, it's like a skeleton key.
Since there's no Thanksgiving here Christmas is the next holiday (except for Bonfire Night/ Guy Fawkes Day) so Christmas stuff is already out in stores... which I'm sure they're out in the states too. So I pulled out my nativity set already. You know you wish you had a penguin nativity set, don't you?
So here's the unpacked/put together flat:
Living Room:
Couch, shelves, trolley on wheels (I use as a computer table) and side table all came with the flat. Most of the books came from Mary's collection.
Another view from of the living room. TV, TV stand/table, and drapery came with the flat.
Here's my room. I pulled the dresser out from the closet so I could have storage space since I only have one closet. And it makes it easier to get into the drawers. My suitcases are stored below the bed. I used my jewelry and perfume that I brought with me to decorate the dresser. I bought the bed from Argos. And I find it funny that the bed looks like it matches the furniture.
It's super cute and I love it! My cold medicine is starting to take effect, so I'm going to cuddle up on my two-seater couch and watch Northanger Abbey and then go to bed... of course I may go to bed before the movie is over.
Oh! I found a part-time job listing that is in my village. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow, wish me luck and pray for me!
Thanks all! Yay, Northanger Abbey here I come!

Lesley Ann - I bought the penguin set years ago at Real Deals in Eugene, Oregon.
Fun pics!! Congrats on your move in and good luck on your job!
Hey little one, your flat looks cozy. I know you will enjoy a home in Scotland. Love you.
I am just in love with your flat. Looks so cozy and wonderful. Great job!!! That's awesome that you have a washer. Too bad you have to hang out all your clothes to dry though. It reminds me of the good old days when we (my family and I) had to hang out all our clothes to dry. At least it's not like my mission, where I had to wash all my clothes by hand. I hired some people to do it here and there. My knuckles got to raw. :) I wish I was there to watch Northanger Abbey with you and maybe make you some soup since you are sick.
Love ya,
Mir-
