don't ask

Ummmm...
...hmmmm...
...it was late.

And we also discovered our secret language, which I had posted earlier here.

To Be Continued.... Day 3 comes the Beach "The Cullens don't come here." "So you caught that, huh?" Of course she caught that, he said it right in front of her with a 'tude.
This just in...
I talk too much. No wonder my posts are freakishly long! I want to give too much information by sharing everything.

I'm going to practice the fine art of simple answers. Like Steve, he's great at that.

Anyone: "where are you?"
The Steve: "on the road"
Anyone: "where on the road?"
The Steve: "by some trees, oh just passed a sign"

So my next posts will be different... Not so long. The fine art of keep it simple. I will master this...

April Twilight Movie tour... part two

We started day two by going up to Vancouver to visit Kadow Marina. This marina is private property there were a bunch of house boats so we respected the signs and didn't actually go down to the marina. But that didn't stop us from having a little fun on someone's trailer that has been there for awhile.
Next stop is St. Helens, where the bulk of the movie was filmed. First stop is Bella's house. We ran into a neighbor lady and chatted with her for a bit. We asked her if she got to meet any of the actors and if they were nice. She told us "He was really nice. But she.... she.... she's really young." She even told us a story - During filming the street was lined with port-o-potties and everyone would walk down to use them, honestly the street isn't that long. But Kristen, aka Bella, would call for a driver to take her down to one. Hahaha... seriously?

The owner of the house has no problems if you want to stop by and take pictures, but he does request that you stay off his lawn, garden, and do not peek in the windows. So to post a sign like that must mean people were actually walking in SOMEONE ELSE'S yard and garden and peeking into SOMEONE ELSE'S house. Talk about rude.

In "Port Angeles" aka still St. Helens the girls go dress shopping, hate to burst your bubble but it's really not a dress shop. It's a salon and the owner was an extra in the movie. If you are there and she doesn't have a client she can tell you about the filming.

Next to the Salon is the alley way, cue ominous music.
At the end of the alley is the "bookstore" (again I hate to burst your bubble but it's not really a bookstore.) And the infamous parking lot where Edward comes to the rescue and growls. Roar!

A few doors down from the Salon is a really cool shop, the shop has these sweet butterfly wings that you can see on the walls in the dress shopping scene of the movie. And the dresses that were used in that scene were purchased here. Edward is protectively watching us while we shop. (Check out my sister's post concerning this weekend and see how much fun we had in this store...)

We asked the store owner if she met any of the cast and if they were nice. She told us, "He was really nice. But she... she's just.... young you know." Hmm... sounds familiar. (In fact we got that same response from the dude at the Gelato store a few doors down.)

We even went to the stupidly named "Bloated Toad" restaurant. Seriously? Bloated Toad? Ok, maybe there were legal problems using Bella Italia since it's a real restaurant, but Bloated Toad? Seriously? Why would anyone name a restaurant that? Don't even get me started on the waitress at the stupidly named bloated toad.... agh.

Now off to Kalama High School. We're so considerate! We made sure we were trespassing on a weekend not a weekday so the kiddies can get a proper education. Don't you love Sarah's impersonation of Edward saving her from the invisible car? I sure do!

We couldn't lay awkwardly in the meadow because there were stinging nettles at Oxbow, so we did it at the High School. And of course Edward is with us... we made him as awkward as possible too!

To Be Continued....
And that ends day two because we're off to sleep at the beach. I must warn you I have no excuse for the next several pictures, all I can say is, it was late.

Twilight Movie Tour - April trip

I'm still working on making collages of the New Orleans trip and I have a lot of pictures to weed through so I'm starting with the April Twilight Movie Tour.

Many people asked me, "You went on an actual tour?" No, I made it up and called it a tour because we were "touring" the movie sights around Oregon. Moi, was the tour guide. But they might actually have a tour group that does this but my philosophy is why pay for it when you can do it on your own?
Gift bags included:
1. A granola bar because Alice foresaw that in our excitement we'd forget to eat
2. Sparkle lip gloss that says "kiss"
3. Black bracelets cause Bella wears a black bracelet in the movie
4. The ring pop to symbolize Edward and Bella's love
5. Nail polish (either Crimson Pearl, Midnight Frost, or Black Amethyst) is due to the fact that Alice likes include nail polish with sleep overs and if you happened to get one of the black polishes, I just believe that every woman needs to own some black nail polish.
6. Fling - the tag line says "Naughty but not too naughty" how could i pass that up?

I also made program books and a red velvet fondant cake. (It was my second time decorating with fondant so it's not the prettiest thing out there.) My wonderful sister printed the drink labels which we also used on the Twizzlers. (which follows the movie theme since they eat Twizzlers a lot.) Labels were found here

Now we're ready to Rock'n Roll!!

I got Mini Edward for my birthday so he wasn't with me during my previous movie tour and I quickly learned that everything is better with Mini Edward. At one point of this trip Mini Edward started to be called Pocket Edward which is a term taken from this amazing site. (seriously check it out, the blog is hilarious!)

First stop is the paper mill which may not have been a paper mill in the movie. This is the location of the nomads first kill.
Next we're off to Clackamas Community College to check out the greenhouses used during the field trip.... shhh don't tell anyone but we went in. It's not like there was a sign that said we couldn't...

(You may have noticed that we all have the same sweatshirts, Kim had the idea to make sweatshirts. She asked all of us to come up with "Reasons we love Twilight" which basically mock Twilight, but when you love you tease. I was happy one of my ideas made it on there! Go me! Then her and Sarah worked on getting the design together for the front and back.)

Next comes lunch at Carver Cafe. If you can only make it to one movie sight, it has to be Carver Cafe. The food is delicious and the staff was awesome to us geeks. We were lucky enough to be there right in time because Charlie and Bella's table was just getting cleared~! We even used the ketchup bottles that don't squirt ketchup in the movie, but it's ok because they were a low budget film.

Most of us did a butt dance in front of the tree a'la Mike Newton, even Edward. I'm not posting my second butt dance because I posted one from my February movie tour

Down the road we went to part of the meadow scene, which deviates from my February trip. Sorry guys we were at the wrong location, it was just a bit more up the road. Behind Stone Cliff Lodge, a restaurant, is where the magic happened...
We ran into another group of girls that had Cardboard Edward, they were nice enough to let us pose with him and Cardboard Bella... we didn't do a whole lot of nice posing with cardboard Bella though.
I also discovered, after February's trip, that some other meadow scenes were shot at Oxbow Park, so we did a bit of trek out there too. Beware of the stinging nettles.... don't ask.

Off to View Point Inn - the home of the Prom. It's beautiful up there. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and not too windy. If you're familiar with the Columbia Gorge it gets pretty windy, and it's a cold wind.

After our photo shoot we drove to the Bridge of the Gods, which is used to drive Bella into Forks. We tried to search for the baseball field but some people got carsick and we weren't able to locate it. If they were true fans they would have sucked it up... Haha! just kidding. (Kim thinks she has found it and one of these days we're going to do an adventure to see if it really is the field. If it is, pictures will be posted.)

That ends Day 1. We continued to have a fun evening full of laughter and great company. But we weren't too loud because hotel security wasn't called on us.

To be continued.... (it would be too long of a post if I do everything in one. It's already freakishly long.)

Trip posts

Finally! I know... but honestly who really reads this blog anyways? I'm sure there are not people out there that are like "Finally she posted her March trip! Now I can die happy." Honestly.

But then I decided, "eh. Who cares, I want to post my trips." So I'm going to.

I have three trips to post and come August I'll have another one... So I need to get caught up.

Here's what I have pending
1. March - New Orleans
2. April - Twilight Movie Tour with some amazing friends
3. May - Trip to Forks and La Push, WA

This picture was taken on Second Beach in La Push, WA during my May trip with my Holga. It's one of my favorite Holga pictures

wait for it... wait for it.... Bu-yah, such an awesome ending!

And remember I have a background song that plays, so you'll want to scroll down a bit and stop that. But I'm sure everyone is smart enough to figure that one out, right?

ODE to THE STEVE
Steve's birthday was back in April, BEFORE I did the birthday odes. So he believes it as an oversight. So here's Steve's post (and don't you complain about not having pictures. I'm texting this update. None of the other siblings had their post txtd)
The Steve is funny. And very smart. The Steve is currently in Alaska. We miss The Steve

Ode to Mike squared

This is Michael

Today is Mike's birthday.

Michael works very hard to provide for his family which he loves very much.

He has an adorable family.... and a twisted sense of humor.

Yep that's my brother.

And I'm going to tell you a trick with Mike..... So, if he's eating cookies ask for one. He's nice and will give you one. But then when there's one cookie left in the package he'll give it to you because he can only eat in twos!

(Now don't be taking this personal that Laura has a longer Ode, I do more with her so I have more pictures and know her better. No offense intended.)

This is Michael.

You may be thinking, but isn't that your brother when he was younger? Alas, that would be no. This is my nephew and he was born on the same day as his dad!

Mikey is very cute, adorable, and such a good helper.

Did I mention he's adorable?

Happy Birthday Mike squared~!!!

My new toy

I love my little point and shoot camera. It has served me well but I have out grown it. I'm not quite ready for a DSLR but I do need something more than I have now.

Earlier this year I found this Canon Powershot camera that had a 20x zoom and I wanted it. I was going to buy it that night. My sister talked me out of it because I'm a bit of an impulsive buyer.

But after realizing what I really wanted in a camera, looking at various cameras, and reading reviews on them, viewing pictures from them, I came back to the said Canon Powershot.

It had all the features that I wanted and more. This time everyone encouraged me because they knew it wasn't an impulsive buy anymore.

I actually have been studying the manual. I know, le gasp! Usually I just tinker around and figure it out by myself. But I want to make sure I'm using this camera to it's utmost ability. And I'm going to master the manual settting.

I can't wait to improve my photography and to have more of a creative control over what I'm shooting. So I will be using this camera to it's fullest capabilities. And then when I outgrow this one, DSLR here I come!

Did I mention the macro on this camera? In super macro mode you can be 0 cm and get a picture. zero cm!!!!

And I'm going to repeat myself one more time... 20x ZOOM!!!!! I was drooling when I first read that part...

Ode to Laura

This is Laura.

Laura is my sister and today is her birthday. (yay!)

May I just say that Laura is AWESOME!

If I grow up to be like Laura then I know I did something right.

Laura is nice and welcoming to everyone.

Laura is very caring. (Not just caring, but very caring or should I say very very caring)

Laura is our eldest sibling.
(She may have gotten jipped for being born in the "older three" so she didn't get princess status, but she never mentions it at all. )*coughsarcasmcough*

Laura is an amazing photographer and will go anywhere for a good photo. (sometimes she'll end up in a sticky situation because of her adventurous spirit.... for example the above picture - she's actually standing on a rock here but a big wave came all of the sudden.)

Laura is extremely talented and fun to hang out with. (If she wasn't, I wouldn't keep asking her to go on trips with me.)

Laura can get you laughing to the point of crying.

Did I mention that Laura will go anywhere for a good photo? Even if it means standing in the middle of the street.... or train tracks.

Laura is an amazing photographer and is willing to teach me and help me become better.

Laura isn't afraid to try new things.

Laura is an amazing mom.

Over all Laura is the best big sister and I couldn't ask for anyone better!

I love you very much

and

Happy birthday Laura!

PS....... Laura is so smart...

~How smart is she?~

She's so smart that she knows not to order bourbon gelato in New Orleans because bourbon doesn't cook out of something frozen. Hahaha...

Disclaimer:
Love you Jen, please don't take offense. I'm joking! Laura and I both love you very much!

Let's hear it one more time.....

Happy birthday Laura!

He's always there for me...

Do you ever have those days where you feel unloved and unwanted?

The last couple of days I have been in the wee bit of the dumps. And I needed to go visit the one person that will always love and want me.

He never judges you.

He always welcomes you into his doors.

You can enjoy cake there or take it home and put it in the fridge because the icing on Gerry's Chocolate is the best when it's cold.

um.... I don't judge you!
