Thankful for so many things

And Burn Notice is one of many things I'm thankful for.  I love it when Jeffrey Donovan plays the weak guys with asthma.  Ah, this show puts a smile on my face everytime.  And I'm thankful that Hollywood Video had the second season on DVD for me to rent.  Yep, I'm watching it right now while I work on my story.  :-)

I'm very thankful for my family and friends, they're all so wonderful!  (and they put up with me)

I'm thankful for Rice Krispie treats with chocolate chips in them.  Can you guess what I'm bringing to my wonderful Uncle and Aunt's house for a dessert?  I found out at my Grandpa Young's funeral that this is how he made them, which is why my dad made them this way for us.

I'm thankful for the BEAUTIFUL sunrise we had this morning, did you see it? I was up early to take fog pictures, but we didn't have fog.  There was a lot of fog yesterday and I was hoping we'd have it today too.  Except there was a patch of fog, which surrounded cellphone towers - it was really cool looking!

I'm thankful for my digital camera so I can capture all the beautiful things around me.  After all I am in the most beautiful state in the United States so I have a lot to appreciate.

What are you thankful for?

Lucy you have some explaining to do!

Is probably what my mom is going to say when she gets home.  Let me back up and tell you an amazing story.

Derek and Erica told me they have access to fabric that is no longer going to be used and will be tossed out.  They were told "Take whatever you want" by the supervisor.  Both these people are very thoughtful and thought of me.  I was super excited after they told me but I still wanted to make sure it was ok with Erica's dad.  So I had Derek text Erica for her to ask her dad.... yeah... Anyways, Derek gets a text back from Erica and it's a go!

I got up early this morning.  GASP, I know.  I got up early!!!  Can you believe it?!?  I guess only fabric can get me out of my bed early.  (Oh, and photography, did you see the fog this morning?  I'm going on a photo journey tomorrow morning since I don't work for some cool fog pictures.  Another early morning for me, but this is another tale.)  Anyway, back to my story.

I met Erica and Derek at the shop and was in awe of all the fabric.  I started feeling the fabric and pulling off rolls of fabric that caught my eye (which some are taller than me).  I believe I said "ok, I'm done." three different times.  And luckily I was wrong because after each time I found some more cool fabric that I missed previously.  I ended up with a lot.....

I told you.

It was really hard for me to focus at work today because my brain has been designing all day and now I can't wait to get a pen to paper and start sketching out those designs!

Derek was kind enough to get the fabric from the shop to the house, you can read his adventure about it here.

Now I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to put it all so I don't invade my mom's sewing room.  Good thing she's in Texas right now, she'd either be excited and want some or will get upset because I'm invading her territory.

I'm so happy!!!  Thanks Derek, Erica and Brian!!! (That's Erica's dad's name, I just asked Derek so I know it's true.)

PS -
I'm going to make Derek and Erica the cutest pair of pj pants EVER!

20 November 2009

I have come to a realization...

Like Landon, I don't like going to bed.

Don't get me wrong, when I'm in bed I love my sleep and don't want to wake up.  But there's so much for me to do and to get done that I find myself fighting sleep.  Just like Landon, except I don't cry when it's time for me to finally go to bed.

So as I sit here fighting sleep, working on my various projects running through my head (I have too many, I need to organize my brain), I realized I'm like Landon or any other child out there that doesn't want to go to sleep.

But since I'm functioning only on 4 hours of sleep maybe I should just give in and go to bed.  LOL

Project Runway

I so LOVE Project Runway!

This is my brother, he and I talk about Project Runway because he likes it too.

Don't worry he's straight, how could he not be with a face like that, right?

Anyways, we both agree - we DO NOT want Irina to win.  He said "She's a monster" and I said "She's a witch with a capital B!"  (But of course it could be how they edit the show... I do understand that editors can create what they want you to see.)

This Thursday while I'm in line for New Moon Derek will find out who wins and I'll have to wait until the next day.  (PS Ladies I think we might want to change our Sunday evening Project Marathon to Friday evening.... I don't know if I can wait!)

PS - I'm still behind in NaNoWriMo, but I'm not giving up and I will reach that goal!!!

and I always had fun with Cosplay.  We've been to several states for conventions and sometimes we had too much fun.  These are my friends who came to visit me.... good times, good times.  I'll be posting pictures from our great adventures here shortly.

Isn't that pictures amazing?  That was the funniest photo shoot I've ever been to!  (PS - the bottom right is my Yugi wig from Yu-Gi-Oh.  That wig was made of awesome.)

Yeah.... priceless

NaNoWriMo Update

I had a blast with my friends visiting from Utah (and a bit sad to see them leave) and I should have some pictures and stories up shortly, like our ghost hunting adventures in Portland or getting rained on while we shopped at the Saturday Market (oh, good times!)

But sadly there was no writing Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.  I have no excuse for Tuesday because my friends left that morning, but man was I exhausted after work.  I did do some writing today but I'm still behind.  Never fear though I'll get back on track.  I just know it.

Day 11 word count: 9,652 words

Now if I can only stop thinking about my new story idea that came to me the other night and focus on the one I'm working on.  Why does this always happen?  Why? (This is why I never finish a project...)

NaNoWriMo Update

Day 5 went by without me doing writing becuase my friends arrived that day.  I'm trying to do some today but I'm soooo tired.... such a late night last night.  And today we went to the gorgeous coast and when there's all that driving it poops me out so I want to go to bed now.

Day 6 end count: 8,232

Alas I'm behind schedule.  And I'll probably be behind schedule until they leave on Tuesday.  But never fear Wednesday is a holiday so I will get caught up then!  I'm going to try to do some writing while they're here so I don't get too far behind.  But tonight isn't one of those times because my bed calls to me....

NaNoWriMo Day 4

Word Count @ end of Day 4: 8,197

I'm on a roll!!

And I'm so in love with my story.  Of course last night I thought of another story idea.  This always happens but usually I stop what I'm working on and start the new idea, but not this time.

NaNoWriMo Day 3

I forgot to post this last night... but I excelled in my word count

Day 3 count: 6,753

In theory I don't have to write tonight because I'm just a bit over where I should be after day 4.  Oh yeah, it's my birthday!!  But I'm still going to write.... can't get out of the habit.  I need to write everyday until the 30th or 50,000 words - whichever is first and completes my story.

Did I tell you that my firends are coming to visit me??!?!?!?!

My friends are coming!  My friends are coming! My friends are coming!  I feel like Paul Revere but the British weren't his friends and he was not excitedthat they were coming like me.....

Daily Quote

I have a lot of quotes. Some are from real people and some are from movies / TV shows. So for November I'm going to post a quote each day. Enjoy!

Batman: "Good grammar is essential, Robin."

The best news article EVER!!

I don't know if I ever shared this article here or not but I'm going to now. I found this almost 3 years ago and it still is made of awesome!

Police dress up as Batman and Robin to catch drugs suspect
Last updated at 09:28am on 13th November 2006

Two policemen dressed as Batman and Robin captured a suspected drugs offender - in a bizarre sting operation.

The Dynamic Duo - Sgt Tony Smith and PC Mike Holman - pulled on the superhero outfits in a bid to unsettle the suspected baddies.

They pretended to be drunks looking for a fancy dress party and knocked on the door of the suspect's home.

Those inside refused to answer the door to the loud, comically dressed visitors - which was what the officers wanted.

Batman and Robin then went around the back of the property in Weymouth, Dorset, while seven uniformed officers went to the front door.

Those inside the house were PLEASED to see the policemen and complained to them about the fancy dress drunks. They then invited the officers in.

However, one of the men inside the house ran out of the back door on seeing the policeman - to where the superheroes were waiting for him.

Batman - Sgt Smith - gave chase, jumped over a fence and BIFF, POW, THWACK, arrested him.

PC Kevin Eames, said: "The people opened the door immediately and said that they had been alarmed by some drunken people in fancy dress in their garden.

"So the ruse was successful and we were let in."

Sgt Smith added: "Last year police officers dressed up as carol singers, which worked well.

"This was my first costumed acting experience.

"The Batman costume was quite comfortable and not too restricting. I still managed to jump over the fence.

"But it was difficult finding somewhere to put my CS spray. There was nowhere for the handcuffs, but then Batman does not need handcuffs."

PC Eames said: "The bad thing about the operation is that we had to endure hours of terrible puns from PC Holman."

A man aged 22 has been arrested and charged with a drugs offence. He is bailed to appear before Weymouth magistrates.

There were no charges against two other men found at the property.
----

The whole article brings a smile to my face but my favorite quote is this:

"... There was nowhere for the handcuffs, but then Batman does not need handcuffs."

I also enjoyed this quote:

"PC Eames said: "The bad thing about the operation is that we had to endure hours of terrible puns from PC Holman." (a.k.a Robin)

LOL so made of awesome.

The article was originally located here but I'm not sure if it still is or not...

Day 2

I'm still not feeling well, but I'm doing much better than yesterday. I did sleep most of the day away but again, not as bad as yesterday. Today I got up at 1:30 compared to yesterday's 5:30. I spent a couple hours this evening writing. I'm pleased to report that I was able to make up the words from yesterday along with reaching today's goal. In fact I'm over where I'm supposed to be for today, so that's good! As long as I can find 2 hours a day to write this should be no problem.

NaNoWriMo has begun...

I've been sick today but I have slept mostly all day long. But I was awake enough this evening to pull out my laptop as I laid in my parent's bed to watch TV with them (as I contaminated their pillows.)

Word count for day 1: 1008 words

I was short 600 words for my daily goal so I'll have to make them up this week.

Last night was a fun Halloween. Derek, Erica and Miranda threw an awesome party. My nieces and nephews looked adorable. (Which you can see here and here) My adoptive sister Kim and her family had amazing costumes too (I sewed the quiditch robes for "Ginny" aka Rachel). I really liked my Goth Cinderella costume. I'll post a picture later...
